Paciano
Despite its Etruscan-Roman origins, testified by the archeological finds in the area, Paciano preserves intact the appearance of a medieval village, enclosed within 14th century walls with towers and three access gates (Porta Fiorentina, Porta Perugina, and Porta Rastrella).
Of the oldest castle there remains a single ruin of a tower, called Orlando Tower, while among the architectonical works the Buitoni Fortress, Cennini Palace and Baldeschi Palace stand out, the latter seat of the Memory Bank of Trasimeno Museum, virtual archive of collective memories and cultural heritage.
In the inhabited centre there are numerous churches dating back to different eras: the Dentro Church (or San Giuseppe), now home to the Don Aldo Rossi Museum, the Church of St. Carlo Borromeo, with a beautiful 17th century portal and the Church of Madonna of the Star.
