Città della Pieve
Lying on a hill overlooking the Valdichiana valley and Lake Trasimeno, Città della Pieve is situated on the border between Umbria and Tuscany. The historical centre still retains its typical medieval appearance with some architectural elements in the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical styles.
The Cathedral of the Saints Gervasio and Protasio is worth visiting. It houses works by two great painters from Città della Pieve, Perugino and Pomarancio, as well as the Oratory of St. Maria dei Bianchi, where the extraordinary "Adoration of the Three Kings" by Perugino can be found.
Besides the Civic tower, built in the 12th century, and the Bishop’s tower, a watchtower probably built in1326, worthy of note are the Rocca (fortress), with five towers, and the Corgna Palace, seat of the municipal library and temporary exhibitions.
Outside the town walls is the Church of St. Augustine, of St. Francis, now the sanctuary of the Madonna of Fatima, the Church of Saint Mary of the Servants, with the fresco by Perugino depicting the Deposition from the Cross, and the Church of Saint Lucia.
