Peasant House Museum

The Peasant House Museum at Corciano tells the story of village rural life before the advent of the industrial civilisation, with its rites and beliefs related to the cycles and seasons of the land. It consists of four typical rooms of the peasant world: the kitchen, bedroom, pantry or storeroom and the cellar/workshop.

In the kitchen are objects and dishes in iron, copper, wood and terracotta, placed on the table, on the fireplace and in the bread cupboard, to create an atmosphere of an everyday place of work. In the bedroom the female trousseau stands out with garments and sheets embellished with lace. Instead in the storeroom or pantry there is a bit of everything, from pumpkins to a sewing machine, from the washing line to the earthenware jar for oil.

The cellar on the ground floor is partly used as a workroom. In addition to a series of agricultural tools there is also a loom which has been perfectly restored and is in working order.
