Church of Saint Maria Assunta

The Church dates back to the first half of the 13th century, and between 1332 and 1334 it assumed the title of parish church. Previously assigned to the Plebs Sancti Ioanni Curtiani, i.e. Parish of the Bishop. In 1870, based on a design by the architect Lardoni di Perugia, it was transformed from Gothic to neoclassical with the addition of a bell tower, using the nearby stone mediaeval tower with a quadrangular plan. The church is known because it houses the Corciano Altarpiece, an oil painting on wood (226x149 cm for the central panel) by Perugino, datable to 1513, which shows the Assumption of the Virgin in the main panel.
