The Lauri Gardens
The Lauri Gardens is the new space dedicated to contemporary art created by the collectors Angela and Massimo Lauro to display part of their personal collection. The Lauro collection was born in1990 and today includes about 300 works, it gathers together works by the main protagonists of the national and international contemporary art scene, on the whole representing an extraordinary narrative path through the latest research in the field of visual art. With the same dose of passion, curiosity and intuition that has guided them in their choices, Angela and Massimo Lauro have now made their most recent purchases available to public viewing in the suggestive location of the Lauri Gardens, immersed in greenery on the border between Umbria and Tuscany.
An essential and fascinating industrial building of 650 square meters, expertly recovered and renovated, and the garden, animated by 70 installations of new generation talents. The shortlist of artists present, mostly from Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and Poland, sees alongside the most classical names such as Takashi Murakami, Mariko Mori, Roxy Paine, Michael Heizer, Rudolf Stingel, Ugo Rondinone, Tim Noble & Sue Webster Massimo Bartolini and Maurizio Cattelan – a group of artists born between the end of the 60s and beginning of the 80s who more recently have appeared in the limelight gaining important international acclaim, such as Aaron Young, Eric Wesley, Dash Snow, Piero Golia, Matthew Monahan, Piotr Uklanski, Urs Fischer, Gary Webb, Martin Creed and Jonathan Meese.
