Church of St. Sebastian
Authentic jewel in the area, the Church of St. Sebastian houses two important frescoes, “The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian” (1505) by Perugino and “The Madonna Enthroned with Musical Angels” attributed to Raffaello in 2005 by Prof. Elvio Lunghi. Once again the landscape of Lake Trasimeno is protagonist of a work of art, in fact in the Martyrdom of St. Sebastian, the panorama that can be admired from Panicale is reproduced almost like a photograph in the background of the fresco.
The torn fresco, attributed to Vannucci’s pupil, the young Raphael, comes from the Church of St. Augustine (seat of the Tulle Museum) and is striking for its compositional beauty and musical theme, extolled thanks to the reproduction of the four musical instruments depicted placed in a show case next to the work.
